Mindful Meditation

Mindful Meditation

Meditation is the simplest state of being, it is getting to be simple. We find it so difficult to be simple. It appears to be the toughest thing to do, but there is nothing to it – just being. The only thing we know is doing, but what we really need to do is to drop all the trappings and move towards nothingness or emptiness.

Mindfulness meditation actually means that you have to empty the mind, and mind - mindfully the empty space. Zen says that, “Empty your mind. Mind the emptiness, So watching the emptiness makes it full”.

Being mindful of all that enters your mind so that you can deal with it, pay attention to it, be alert to it and respond to it and not react to it.

In meditation one should just be quiet and still as possible. Mindfulness also is being silent, watchful and yet being very proactive when needed that is post meditation.

Stillness can only come when your mind is empty and filled with the light of awareness and that can make you blissful, get freedom from all the hurt, pain, resentments, grudges, disgruntles and it can give you joy- a joy of living. It can also give you strength to counter and face life, look at it in its face fearlessly and most importantly it can make you non-aggressive in your behaviour and in your response.

It is true that, with this kind of meditation when you are in complete stillness, you find solutions to all the issues of life. So yes, life is seldom a lake; it’s an ocean; and we need to serve on this ocean well.

Meditation helps take you there in that space. It starts with concentrating on your breath and then relaxing your body. Then you are in the process of universal awareness, which leads you to consciousness that is abundant and vibrant.
